Nemours is seeking a casual Massage Therapist to join our Therapeutic & Rehab Services team in Wilmington, Delaware.

Up! on completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The Massage Therapist provides massage therapy evaluation, treatment and consultation to patients under the prescription of a physician and within the guidelines designated by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. May provide massage therapy to adults independently without physician prescription.
The massage therapist supports the processes of care delivery, referral and staff training and development in relationship to massage therapy. They must possess excellent communication skills and have the knowledge necessary to effectively work with the pediatric and adult populations. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community.
Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
Evaluates patients for appropriateness of massage therapy, reviewing contraindications/precautions prior to providing services. Reviews medical history and issues with stress or pain to help determine which type of massage would be the most beneficial.
Provides massage therapy services to patients, utilizing safe, appropriate and effective massage techniques. Provides and coordinates age-appropriate massage treatment plans and consultation in typical patient care situations within scope of practice.
Observes patient reactions to massage and modifies as necessary. Solicits feedback and responds accordingly.
Provides patients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises.
Provides quality, effective patient education and documentation. Provides pa! tients with appropriate individualized information upon exit from massa! ge visit..
Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy, Joint Commission and CARF standards.
Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member. Works cooperatively with a variety of clinical and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes.
Remains current on best practices, industry standards and innovation related to modalities utilized.
Assists in maintenance of department equipment.
Responsible for scheduling and maintenance of appointments; assists in collection of fees.
Indirect Patient Care Responsibilities
Staff Development: Provides massage orientation in-services and educational seminars and participates in events and trainings that increase awareness, provide education and enhance support to the community and providers in the area of massage therapy as related to healing environments an! d mind-body-spirit health and wellness.
Continuous Process Improvement: Participates in quality and performance improvement activities related to massage therapy.
Assessment and Treatment: Contributes to program committees to enhance patient care, assists in assessing current procedures, and assists in developing methods of improvement related to patient care.
Program Development: Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness and marketability in meeting goals of the department. Attends monthly program meetings.
Professional Development: Develops ties with professional organizations.

Requirements
Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of DE.
Pediatric Massage certification preferred.
A minimum of 2 years experience providing massage therapy services in a clinical/health care setting; pediatric preferred.
Member of AMTA, AMMA! or AMBT.
