To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to c! reate a childrenâs hospital like no other in the region. Upo! n completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
Primary Function
Physician Assistant (PA) with medical direction from staff physicians provides medical care of pediatric patients in the Emergency Department. Physician Assistant duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining history; performing physical examinations; ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribing medication; and participating in the coordination of the health care team.
Essential Responsibilities
Retrieving all relevant materials from referring institutions, physicians and nurses regarding previous care that the child has received and reviewing all of those historical materials to develop the care of the child.
Obtaining history and performing physical examination of patients admitted to the Emgergency Room.
Assisting the! staff in the ongoing examination and treatment of patients.
Maintaining patient records.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelorâs degree or Masterâs degree from general physicianâs assistant program.
Pediatric cardiac experience preferred.
Other Requirements
Passed national qualifying exams for PAs.
Qualify for licensure in the state of Delaware.
