Nemours is seeking a casual Telephone Triage Nurse to join our Kids Health on Call team in Wilmington, Delaware.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children's hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 201! 4, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pedi! atric Intensive Care Unit, and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The Kids Health On Call telephone nurse triage unit provides patients with telephone access to a highly skilled and trained registered nurse during hours when the Nemours primary care offices are closed.
Job functions include:
1. Accurately assesses each patient's condition by actively listening to callers and asking probative questions. Identifies emergent situations and effectively transfers life threatening calls to appropriate agencies per protocol.
2. Provides appropriate and courteous telephone advice including plan of care and patient education to callers according to approved protocols.
3. Appropriately and accurately documents initial and ongoing telephone conversations with documentation being completed immediately after the call ends.
4. Places outbound follow up calls to caregivers as needed.
5. Accurately communicates information ! to physician on call as needed either over the telephone or by routing the necessary information to the physician through EPIC.
6. Meet unit expectation for performance based on unit competencies and staff meeting attendance.
7. Must be able to work independently, and make critical decisions autonomously as this is a complete work at home position after completion of orientation.
Candidate should possess excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to multitask, make time-sensitive decisions and function well independently.
Current PA and DE nursing license or ability for license reciprocity in these states.
RN required; BSN preferred; 3-5 years pediatric experience; nurse triage or primary care nursing experience a plus.
This is a casual RN position.
Work hours: Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Some overnights are required to fill in when night shift nurses ar! e off. Shifts may be adjusted due to department needs.
Bilingu! al, Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is a plus.
