We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to join our growing team.
Job Overview:
As the Head of Maintenance Unit, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities at Freee Recycle Limited. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively manage a team. Your primary accountability will be to ensure the smooth operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities, minimizing downtime and optimizing productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
2. Establish and maintain an inventory system for machinery, equipment, and spare parts.
3. Create and execute a preventive maintenance program to maximize the lifespan of company machinery and equipment.
4. Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
5. Conduct regular inspections to proactively identify potential maintenance issues and minimize production interruptions.
6. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
7. Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
8. Identify skill gaps within the team and organize training programs to enhance technical capabilities.
9. Foster a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
10. Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, integrity, and excellence.
11. Coordinate with external service providers for specialized repairs or maintenance when necessary.
12. Prepare and manage the maintenance unit budget, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
13. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
14. Collaborate with procurement to source cost-effective spare parts, tools, and equipment.
15. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenses, and inventory.
Key Performance Indicators:
a) Demonstrate transformational and exemplary leadership traits, promoting collaboration, teamwork, integrity, and discipline among the maintenance team.
b) Develop and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance plans/forecasts to the COO and senior management.
c) Achieve maximum equipment uptime of 85%, minimizing production interruptions through effective maintenance and repairs.
d) Maintain up-to-date records and logs of all maintenance activities.
e) Reduce waste and equipment breakdowns, thereby lowering maintenance costs and emphasizing material handling and resource management.
f) Effectively manage maintenance costs, optimize resource allocation, control expenses, negotiate contracts, identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintain maintenance costs within budgetary limits.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a Head of Maintenance Unit role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
3. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate a team and achieve equipment uptime targets.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing process improvements.
5. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
6. Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, quality control processes, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
