Education : Bachelors or Masters Degree in Public Health or Health Promotion; OR student in Public Health or Health Promotion

Other qualifications desired : Interest in or experience with health promotion on a systems or population level

Project Description:
NHPS is working with the Breastfeeding Coalition of Delaware (BCD) to improve breastfeeding support across the continuum of care (prenatal to hospital delivery to postnatal and pediatric). Work focuses! on supporting the BCD and 4 labor and delivery hospitals in DE on the ! Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and creating connections and collaborations among healthcare providers in various settings. Ultimately, these efforts will influence the decisions of expecting and new mothers to initiate and maintain breastfeeding.

Intern Project Deliverables :Assist with the following:
1. Become familiar with Steps 3 and 10 of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
2. Facilitate and foster connections between hospitals and existing community resources.
3. Explore opportunities for collaboration between hospitals and community resources.
4. Share resources, such as useful template materials and tools, among other coalitions, community groups, and hospitals.
5. Establishment of communication mechanisms, e.g., list serv, social media, website, e-newsletter
6. Create a communications plan for the BCD.
7. Review online file sharing platforms, present pros and cons of each to the BCD, and set up the platform th! e Coalition decides on.
8. Support implementation of the BCD’s strategic plan (available at www.delawarebreastfeeding.org ).
