More details about this vacancy opportunity please read the description below. Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre-Surgical Care to join our team in Delaware. This position is Monday- Friday, 40 hours a week.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to creat! e a children's hospital like no other in the region. Upon comp! letion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and a new expanded Emergency Department.
This position is 40 hours a week, Monday- Friday, hours are 8:00am-4:30pm and 8:30am-5:00pm hours depending on unit needs.
Pre-Surgery Care:
Pre-Surgery Care includes the Pre-Surgical Care Unit and Pre-op Holding Area, both of which prepare children and families for surgery. In both units, the child's physical, psychological, and social needs are addressed. Within seven days of the surgery date, children will be scheduled for an exam in the Pre-Surgical Care Center. This exam will include any necessary tests/studies required for their surgery as well as any assessments of pre-existing medical conditions. The Pre-Surgical Care Center is staffed with advanced practice nurses and registered nurses. The APNs will perform the physical exam and the RNs will complete the nursing assessments, and prov! ide pre-operative teaching for the child and parent/caregiver.
Pre-op Holding (Day of Surgery):
The nursing staff begins care the day prior to surgery by contacting the parents/caregivers to inform them of the time to report to the hospital, to receive an update the health status of the child and to tell them where to report. On the day of surgery, further assessments are done, preoperative medications are given and further preparation for surgery is done. The nursing staff provides age appropriate games, videos or books to the patient while waiting for their surgery.
Education, Training and Experience :
Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN Preferred.
3 years pediatric nursing experience, med/surgical preferred
Critical preferred but not required
Must be flexible to rotate to clinic, pacu, short procedure rooms, sedation
Must be an experienced nurse
Licenses, Registrations, or C! ertification:
Current registration with Delaware State Board of! Nursing
