More complete informations about this career opportunity please read the description below. Nemours is seeking an Operating Room Technician to join our team in Delaware. This position is full-time, 7:! 00am-5:30pm, 60 hours every two weeks.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has em! barked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children's hospi! tal like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The OR Technician is an unlicensed person who may assist in the implementation of delegated patient care activities according to their level of education, training and demonstrated competency in the required skill.
Ability to scrub on all procedures:
Check OR schedule for changes.
Check case cart and/or table set-up for supplies.
Check physician's preference card.
Pull suture for procedure; assist in obtaining additional equipment prior to starting procedure or scrubbing.
Check functioning of equipment prior to starting procedure or scrubbing.
Open gown and gloves using proper aseptic technique.
Open other supplies, if needed.
Don protective eye wear and boots (as needed).
Scrub following ! Operating Room "Surgical Scrub Procedure."
Prepare instrument table and mayo tray.
Count all items, sharps, sponges, instruments, etc., with an RN circulator (a witnessed count).
When preparing instruments, check all working parts and account for bolts, wing knots, etc..
Have supplies ready and anticipate needs of surgical team.
Assist in gowning and gloving of surgical team.
Assist in prepping and draping.
Move OR instrument table, mayo stand and ring stands to operative field.
Prepare electrosurgical pencil, suction, etc., and secure to sterile field.
Initiate appropriate counts as necessary.
Keep instruments clean of blood and tissue.
Maintain continual awareness of location of instruments, sharps, sponges, needles, etc.
Demonstrate ability to initiate clean-dirty technique where appropriate.
Prepare and handle all specimens appropriately.
Maintai! n open communication with physician, assistants, circulator and anesthe! sia personnel.
Requirements
Graduate of Surgical Technician program or equivalent preferred.
Certification related to Surgical Technology preferred.
