To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phas! e expansion to create a children’s hospital like no other in! the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.

Primary Function

This position is responsible for: 1) Managing and expediting the completion of all license applications, initial and reappointment applications for privileges at AIDHC, and all other affiliated hospitals for the physicians, APNs, PAs, OR nurses and perfusionists of the Nemours Cardiac Center; (2 ) Preparing reports related to credentialing, working with the corporate credentialing, enrollment, risk management and legal departments; and (3) Acting as a liaison with members of the Medical Staff Services, Corporate Credentialing, Enrollment, Risk Management and Human Resource Department to assist with the credentialing/privileging/enrollment process.

Essential Functions

Obtains and maintains all documents necessary for the completion of physician crede! ntialing and medical staff appointments in compliance with the Corporate Credentialing office and State Medical Boards for medical state licenses, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) initial hospital appointments and reappointments.

Coordinates and completes appropriate duties and responsibilities associated with hiring a new physician, new APN or new PA for the Nemours Cardiac Center at A. I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship with medical staff office at all affiliated hospitals for initial appointments, reappointments and temporary privileges (when deemed necessary for the surgical team).

Facilitates communication between providers and corporate credentialing/enrollment/state medical boards to ensure all hospital and licensing board requirements are met within the time frame provided.

Provides oversight to the providers of new licensing requiremen! ts, Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Education Units (CEU! ) and other madatories at all other affilated hospitals. Informs corporate credentialing of all new requirements and processes being implemented.

Maintains current professional licenses, CVs, board certificates and dues for physicians, APNs and PAs and records as appropriate at AIDHC and all other affiliated hospitals.

Maintains knowledge of medical staff bylaws, exclusions, temporary privileges, written agreements, shared credentialing and hospital policies.

Processes check requests for reimbursement for medical staff dues, licensures, application fees, etc.

Interacts with legal contacts, both internal and external, for reporting of malpractice suits, updating malpractice suits with final results for all of the individual physician's malpractice case summaries.

Designated liaison to oversee and assist secretaries with faculty application process.

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Qu! ality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.

Requirements

Must have an Associate's degree.

Strong administrative skills.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

License and credintialing experience preferred.
