Nemours is seeking a Research Assistant I, Pediatric Urology Research and Tissue Engineer! ing Lab to join our team in Delaware.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has! embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s ! hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.

The Research Assistant I performs a primary research role in the laboratory and conducts original research for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory. In addition, the Research Assistant I performs a range of experiments and data analyses under the direction of Lab Head or Research Associate; assists with the maintenance of and operations in the laboratory; assists in the preparation of grant proposals and manuscripts; and maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed.

Perform experiments using a range of molecular biological, biochemical and cell biological techniques under the direction of Lab Head and/or Research Associate.

Perform immunostaining of cells and tissue sections and conduct micros! copy of stained slides under the direction of Lab Head and/or Research Associate.

Assist with the care and use of animals in the Life Science Center and Laboratory.

Assist with maintenance and operations of the laboratory in which these studies occur.

Documentation of work performed, data analysis, production of oral and written reports, and participation in team meetings at which the work will be discussed and planned.

Assist in drafting grant proposals and manuscripts.

Assist the Lab Head in preparation of research proposals to external funding agencies.

A degree is Biology or a related field is required. Experience with biomedical laboratory procedures, particularly immunostaining, essential.
