Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our People's Plaza Primary Care team in Newark, Delaware.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private, family-centered, technologically advanced patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the primary care pediatrics practices as directed by providers. The position is responsible for patient flow and assisting providers as necessary with examination, procedures and administration of immunizations, which are adapted to the patient's development stage.
Performs patient assessments.
Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint).
Assists providers with procedures, including, but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, gyn exams and catheterizations.
Performs phlebotomy via venipuncture or capillary techniques to obtain blood specimens. Transcribe, collect, label and arrange transport for lab specimens. Performs back office laboratory tests.
Administers immunizations, oral and/or injectable medications. Administers PPD and interprets results.
Orders and stocks appropriate inventory of medical-surgical supplies for lab and exam rooms.
Triages patient calls utilizing delineated protocols under the supervision of the provider.
Provides age- and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents and adults.
Monitors patient flow, including preparing patients and rooms for physicals and sick visits.
Work hours: first shift (e.g., 8am - 4:30pm, 8:30am -5pm, 9am - 5:30pm, 10am - 6:30pm). Must be flexible with work hours.
Requirements:
Must have an active DE nursing license.
Outpatient experience preferred.
BSN preferred.
