Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediat! ric Intensive Care Unit, and a new expanded Emergency Departme! nt. The Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurse operates sophisticated equipment and provides patient care during Catheterization procedures. Assists the physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies and interpreting hemodynamic waveforms and electrocardiographic tracings. Assist cardiologists in device implantation procedures and surgeons in completion of surgical procedures in the cath lab. Assists in the operation and maintenance of fluoroscopic, digital image recording and electrophysiologic equipment. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Collects data for quality control programs. Assists with inventory controls and maintenance of computer reports. Patient care is individualized to the age/developmental, psycho-social-cultural patient need. 1. Operates hemodynamic/physiologic recording, digital cineangiographic and electrophysiologic equipment. 2. Performs and inte! rprets hemodynamic waveforms. Operates complex physiologic recording computer system including routine programs for diagnostic procedures and special measurement programs for interventional procedures. Maintains storage and retrieval systems for all records.3. Maintains proper performance of physiologic recording equipment and biplane digital angiographic equipment. Recognizes and trouble shoots problems with equipment.4. Prepares surgical trays, instruments, contrast media, room and patient for scheduled procedures. Assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures, EP studies, pacemaker implantation and related procedures in the CICU and OR.5. With the approval of the Medical Director, Chief of Cardiology and Administrator, develops policies and procedures for quality control of physiologic recording processes, digital recording processes and record storage and retrieval systems. Monitors quality control indicators.
I. Education, Training and Exper! ienceA. Graduate of accredited school of nursing with previous experien! ce in pediatric nursing required.B. Minimum of three years experience in pediatric cardiac catheterization, two of which must include participation in interventional and electrophysiologic procedure, preferred.C. Knowledge of sterile technique, cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology and patho-physiology is required. Must possess sufficient knowledge to identify equipment failure and malfunctions and assist in trouble shooting and repairs, preferred.II. License, Registration, or Certification: A. Current Registered Nurse License with Delaware State Board of Nursing.B. Current PALS certification C.
