To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children's hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private, family-centered, t! echnologically advanced patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensi! ve Care Unit, and a new expanded Emergency Department.

The Director of Risk Management has primary oversight and responsibility of the risk management program in the facilities under his/her direction. This leadership role will direct others within the organization towards risk prevention; risk/exposure identification, risk/exposure minimization and process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. The Director of Risk Management performs these functions reporting to the Administrative Director of Quality and Safety through the Office of the Vice President of Quality and Safety. This individual is responsible for reviewing policy or organizational changes and making recommendations for final approval by Foundation senior management. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Risk Exposure Protection/Identification and mitigation; P! erformance Improvement and Safety Assessment, identifying opportunities to improve services and mitigate exposures, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation1. Administer the Risk Management program a. Staffing b. Budget c. Coordination of risk management activities between AIDHC and the DE valley service area . 2. Identify, develop, coordinate and provide education related to risk identification, prevention and reduction 3. Direct staff and /or others in the investigation, support and follow up of adverse events including interviews, chart reviews, documentation, disclosure and coordination with Claims Management/Legal. 4. Provide advice, counsel and direction to associates, physicians, multidisciplinary committees and teams at all levels of the organization related to a wide range of issues including but not limited to the following: a. reportable incidents b. guardianship, custody, consent c. en! terprise and site specific policy and procedure development, implementa! tion and interpretation d. program development e. risk mitigation and reduction strategies for events and exposures related to patients, visitors and associates f. alert and recall process for medical devices, supplies, equipment and medication 5. Oversee the collection, management, analysis and dissemination of incident report data. 6. Lead and mentor risk management staff. 7. Provide leadership for risk and safety assessments including designated committee(s). 8. Collaborate closely with Hospital and Practice Plan Management to accomplish clear administration of the Risk Management functions. Work experience in Risk Management or a related field.Experience as a healthcare supervisor or manager.Master's Degree required.CPHRM or FASHRM desirable.
